How it works
Fluid change or flush: what each one does
A fluid change drains the old fluid and refills it with fresh. A flush uses a machine to push out nearly all the old fluid and replace it. Fresh fluid is the cheapest thing your transmission will ever ask for, and we would love to keep it that way. If your transmission is already slipping, leaking or shifting hard, start with transmission repair and diagnosis instead.
Step by step, from your call to pickup
- You call the shop and tell us about your car. We book you in.
- The check: we look at the fluid and how the transmission shifts.
- Our advice: a fluid change, a flush, or a closer look, and the price. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- The service: old fluid out, fresh fluid in, plus a new filter and pan gasket when needed.
- Pickup: your car back with fresh fluid, and a straight answer on how your transmission looked.

Do I need a transmission fluid change or a flush?
It depends on the condition of your fluid and your transmission, so we check it first. A fluid change drains and refills part of the fluid. A flush uses a machine to replace nearly all of it. We look at the fluid, check how the car shifts, and tell you which one your vehicle needs before we do anything.
My car has high mileage and the fluid has never been changed. Is it safe?

How much does a transmission fluid change cost?
It depends on your vehicle, how much fluid it takes, and whether it needs a new filter and pan gasket. Call the shop and we will give you a price for your vehicle before any work starts.
Do you replace the transmission filter?
Yes, when your transmission needs one or when you ask for it. A new pan gasket goes on at the same time.
How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Your owner's manual lists the interval for your vehicle. Most manuals give a shorter interval for severe driving, which includes heavy heat, towing and stop-and-go traffic. If you are not sure when it was last done, we can check it for you.
